The Night Before Your Big Race

You should be on the couch.

Not walking around

Not dining out

Not cleaning your bike

Not packing the car

Not washing your race knicks

Not adjusting your position

Not oiling your chain

Not pumping your tyres

Not smashing a massive pasta meal

Not shopping for last minute race food

All that crap should have been done yesterday or earlier in the week.

It’s a trap! Leave everything to the last minute and all you do is wind yourself up into a stressed out frenzy.

Months of training, sacrifice and hardship to be ruined by a lack of preparation and forethought on race week.

Key Tips

Don’t do anything that you wouldn’t normally do — especially on the night before the race.

That includes eating a big past a meal

Most new players fall into this trap of ‘carbo loading’ the night before the big race. All you’ll do is make yourself feel listless and lathergic on race day because you’re not used to processing that type of food in such a large quantity.

You’ll ruin your race at the 11th hour.

Eat light, drink plenty of water, breath, don’t watch cycling/triathlon movies that are gonna get you so pumped you wont be able to sleep. Relax, chill, read a book and get an early night.

Easier said than done, but with a little planning a week out from the event, serenity can be achieved.

Here’s an unconventional method for carbo loading

Good luck.
